FREMONT, Calif., October 6, 2023 – Trina Solar, a global leader in smart solar products and energy solutions, joined industry leaders at PV CellTech USA 2023 in San Francisco. Steven Zhu, President of Trina Solar U.S, and Billy Christie, Director of Solution Center at Trina Solar U.S delivered a presentation on insights and opportunities for PV manufacturing in the U.S market as solar development expands.
Steven and Billy shared Trina Solar’s prioritization of efforts for a diversified supply chain compliant with U.S regulations including the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). The company has expanded production locations and sources 100% of its polysilicon for U.S. modules from the United States and Europe. Trina Solar’s advanced traceability infrastructure allows it to efficiently provide detailed traceability documentation upon request by the U.S Customs Border Protection (CBP).
Steven provided conference attendees with insights regarding the complexities in providing Tier-1, high-tech modules and solutions for utility-scale, commercial, and residential projects. Billy added details on Trina’s product technology roadmap for the U.S. market.
Trina Solar is continuing to expand business in the U.S. Last month, the company announced it will build a more than 1 million square foot solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas. It is investing more than $200 million in property and equipment and the facility will provide 1,500 local jobs. Starting in 2024, the facility will produce 5 GW of N-type TOPCon modules, as well as P-type modules, utilizing manufacturing techniques and technologies pulled from over 26 years of experience.
Since its founding 26 years ago, the company has shipped more than 150GW of modules, generating green power for customers in more than 100 countries and regions. Trina Solar is moving beyond being just a top-tier module supplier and is developing an all-in-one solar + storage solution.
