California's utility-scale solar generation hits new record

California's solar industry reached a new milestone as the state's largest power grid held enough solar energy to power 2 million homes.
The grid, called the California Independent System Operator, covers about 80 percent of California's energy market. The ISO broke its own record by hitting 8,030 megawatts from solar sources. That amount is more than double the grid's best day in 2014 and about 2,000 megawatts more than its solar peak last year. Though impressive, the number does not even include solar energy generated by residential rooftop systems not feeding into the grid, or by smaller utilities that do not use the ISO.
As the world's leading solar panel manufacturer, Trina Solar is committed to supporting the growth of solar energy for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
