A new bill passed in California will give all the state’s electricity consumers equal access to net metering in rooftop solar regardless of where they live. Previously net metering was only available in certain locations depending on the utility provider.

According to state assembly members who sponsored the bill, the measure provides for more consumer protection. Once enacted, all Californians will have equal access to solar energy, regardless of what city they live in.
