Trina Storage, a leading provider of integrated energy storage solutions, has successfully completed integration testing of its Elementa 2 liquid-cooled battery energy storage system (BESS) with a key European PCS and control supplier. This represents an important milestone in complete system development, demonstrating readiness for deployment in the European market and underscoring its performance, reliability, and safety. Shipments and installations of the Elementa 2 are set to begin in 2025, marking the next phase of bringing this advanced solution to market.
The test covered four key areas: Communications, Start-Up &Shut-Down, Operation, and Fault management, with the Trina Storage Elementa 2 system passing in all categories.
The Communications element proved that Elementa 2’s communication systems are reliable and consistent following installation, and that faults are correctly and promptly flagged, and that the emergency shutdown protocols are in full working order. Start-Up/Shut-Down verified that the system can respond to startup and shutdown commands as designed, and that the battery management system (BMS) DC voltages and currents are accurately reported.
The Operational part of the test validated charge/discharge performance by ensuring the energy management system (EMS) and power conversion system (PCS) are able to respond accurately to standard operational commands. Finally, Fault management covered safety aspects such as fire suppression systems (FSS), gas detection systems, door interlocking, brownout recovery and rack availability. The system was subjected to several abnormal conditions as part of this test and responded correctly in each instance.
Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage, said: “We’re pleased to announce that Elementa 2 has successfully completed system integration testing in Europe, demonstrating its readiness for deployment in real-world applications. This milestone reflects our commitment to delivering energy storage solutions that meet the specific technical and regulatory needs of the European market. Trina Storage already has a comprehensive footprint in the region, consisting of highly qualified engineering and project management teams, plus strong external partners.
“We recognise the growing demand for reliable, bankable battery storage solutions across Europe, and our complete system offering is designed to address Europe’s evolving energy landscape. The platform’s seamless PCS and control integration will ensure smooth deployment and reliability, helping developers to drive renewable energy adoption, strengthen grid stability, and support Europe’s net-zero ambitions.”
