Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (“Trina Solar” or the “company”), a leading global PV and smart energy total solution provider, will showcase its vision of future proof power products and solutions at this year’s Intersolar Europe.
The leading European solar trade fair is being held in Munich from 14-16 June 2023, and will see Trina Solar displaying its full portfolio of products including mounting structures, energy storage, and extensive range of solar panels. In addition, Trina Solar will be showcasing the work the company has undertaken as it evolves into an integrated solutions provider, bringing all elements of its business together under its vision of a world with future proof power.
Gonzalo de la Viña, President EMEA at Trina Solar, commented: “Intersolar Europe is an ideal vehicle for us to showcase our extensive portfolio of solar solutions and at the same time share our vision. The European Trina Solar team will highlight our technological innovation, world-class quality standards and knowledge sharing as key drivers for achieving a sustainable business and future-proofing leadership in the PV industry.
“The environmental challenges ahead of us require a major shift in mindset and leadership, something that we are embracing with our vision for future-proof power. Trina Solar senior management has shaped a sustainable way of doing business from the beginnings of the company 25 years ago and we are excited to be able to outline this at Intersolar this year”, says de la Viña.
At the stand, Trina Solar will be focusing on several inter-related product ranges for rooftop and ground-mounted application scenarios – its extensive module range, mounting structure capabilities, and large-scale energy storage systems.
The rooftop revolution: Vertex S+ n-type dual-glass modules
For the first time in German-speaking markets, Trina Solar will introduce its brand-new n-type i-TOPCon dual-glass Vertex S+ series for rooftops, offering up to 450W output power, a 30-year performance warranty and a 25-year product warranty. The module series has been designed for maximum system compatibility, while maintaining similar weight and dimensions as its back sheet peers for easy handling and installation.
The Vertex S+ is the first rooftop module on the market to feature an ultra-thin dual-glass structure, high reliability and a perfect protection over decades while providing highest possible fire safety. Further, omitting the plastic back sheet improves the module’s environmental footprint and end-of-life recycling capabilities.
The new Vertex S+ generation is already available in Europe via Trina Solar’s local distribution partner network and promises new levels in durability, performance, and safety.
World class utility-scale modules: The new Vertex N for lowest LCOE
In addition, Trina Solar will be unveiling the new dual-glass bifacial Vertex N series – the 605W+ series and 695W+ series – which are aimed at the utility segment and thus have the highest nominal wattage. Vertex N panels feature n-type i-TOPCon cells, therefore increasing bifaciality to 80% and delivering higher efficiency, lower degradation, and better energy yield, enabling the highest available string power and lowest LCOE.
This is the first time the company has exhibited the 695W+ module, TSM-NEG21C.20, in Europe and this is its most powerful module to date, reaching 22.4% maximum efficiency.
Trina Solar’s Vertex N 605W+ series, TSM-NEG19RC.20, is highly compatible with trackers, offering more feasibility to utility-scale projects in the most complex of terrains.
A dream team: Vertex N and mounting solutions
At Intersolar, the Vertex N 695W+ module will be showcased mounted on Trina Solar’s Agile 1P dual-row tracker. Agile 1P is compatible with 210mm cell size and has been optimized for Trina Solar’s Vertex panels. Trina Solar’s proprietary Spherical Bearing, slewing drive, cardan and transmission bar make this tracker the most adaptable solution for installations on complex sites with difficult terrains. Moreover, Agile 1P has been submitted to a wind tunnel test that includes static, dynamic, and full aeroelastic assessments, performed by world-wide wind consultancy leader CPP. – Within Trina Solar’s portfolio for Europe, the Vanguard 1P tracker is also available, a single-row 1-portrait layout for easy maintenance.
Both Agile 1P and Vanguard 1P come with Trina Solar’s proprietary SuperTrack Smart Tracking Algorithm that increases energy yield by up to 8% by calculating the optimal tracking angle for each individual row. SuperTrack maximizes energy output during periods of highly diffused irradiation and in uneven terrains with multiple slopes.
Just as its tracker peers, FixOrigin, the fixed-tilt member of Trina Solar’s mounting structure family, has been designed to minimize the impact of rear-side shading on bifacial solar panels. FixOrigin is fully compatible with large-format modules and has been designed for quick installation, high flexibility and compatibility. At Intersolar, FixOrigin will be shown in combination with the high-performance Vertex N 605W+ series panel.
De la Viña added: “While Trina Solar has become known as a leading global manufacturer of best-in-class solar panels, we have not stopped there. Combining our mounting solutions with our premium photovoltaic modules is an important step to lowering LCOE even more by optimizing and integrating different system components. We have come a long way in our transition to an integrated smart energy provider, including modules, mounting systems and large-scale storage technologies, making us one of the biggest players in the drive to decarbonise Europe.”
Trina Storage Elementa: Vertically integrated battery storage product
Intersolar visitors will be able to witness Trina Storage Elementa, a grid scale high-performance energy storage system, built into a full-scale smart cabinet solution at the Trina Solar booth. Trina Storage Elementa is flexible, safe, and incorporates the company’s in-house cell technology and innovative design. The modular battery system is optimized for enhanced lifetime, superior system performance and maximized returns. This leading new technology is packed with proactive safety features such as a highly effective liquid-cooling system and full-map aerosol-based fire suppression system to ensure any risks are eliminated. The tailored 3-level Battery Management System provides real-time battery monitoring and detection, enabling advanced safety mechanism. Serial production of Trina Storage Elementa has started, and more than 500MWh of this solution are being delivered to European customers this year.
De la Viña concluded: “As part of the PV industry, our responsibility and commitment is to drive technological innovation along the value chain to push for the transition into a carbon-free world. Our customers, especially renewable energy investors, have a high and increasing demand for ESG related information, not least because they are required to report on these topics to their own stakeholders. At Trina Solar we are more than ready to provide maximum transparency and traceability, because our sustainable way of doing business is deeply engrained in our DNA.”
